I made this photograph at Phoenix Park, in Dublin, Ireland as part of my exploration of Harman Phoenix’ newest film offering, the Harman Phoenix II 200, 35mm using a Nikon F55. I was struck at the time by the vibrance of the movement, the energy of childhood abandon, dependence and independence in the foreground and background. I had actually intended to catch the young girl in the foreground while she was still performing a handstand on the tree but she decided she was done in the fraction of time between my finger and the shutter. The joys of the moment. In the end, I was much happier with this outcome because it introduced a sense of dynamism to the composition.
